1. General Information Only
The information published on etaac.org (the “Site”) by ETAAC Pest Control, including articles, pest identification guides, prevention tips, service descriptions, cost guidance and answers to frequently asked questions, is provided for general informational purposes only. It is offered in good faith, but it is general in nature and may not apply to your property, your pest problem, your region or your circumstances. Pest behavior, building construction, climate and local regulations vary widely across the United States.
Your use of the Site and your reliance on any information on it is solely at your own risk. This Disclaimer should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
2. Not Professional, Medical or Legal Advice
Content on the Site is not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a licensed pest control professional. Accurate identification of a pest and the right treatment usually require someone to see the property in person.
Nothing on the Site is medical advice. Some pests, such as rodents, ticks, mosquitoes, stinging insects, bed bugs and wildlife, can be associated with bites, stings, allergic reactions or disease. If you or a family member has been bitten or stung, has symptoms of an allergic reaction, or has been exposed to a pesticide, contact a qualified health care provider. In an emergency, call 911. For possible poisoning or pesticide exposure, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Nothing on the Site is legal advice. Questions about landlord and tenant responsibilities, real estate inspection reports (such as wood-destroying insect reports), building codes, wildlife protection laws or insurance coverage should be directed to an attorney, your insurer or the appropriate government agency.
3. Pesticide Safety: The Label Is the Law
Pesticides sold in the United States are regulated under federal law, and states impose their own additional requirements. The product label is a legal document, and using a pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling is a violation of federal law. This principle is commonly summarized as “the label is the law.”
- Always read and follow the entire label before buying, using, storing or disposing of any pest control product.
- Use products only on the pests and at the sites listed on the label, at the rates stated, and with the personal protective equipment required.
- Keep products in their original containers, out of reach of children and pets.
- Some products are classified as restricted use and may be applied only by or under the supervision of a certified applicator.
- Product names, active ingredients or methods mentioned on the Site are for general education. Their mention is not a recommendation that you use them, and availability and legality vary by state.
4. Do-It-Yourself Pest Control
The Site may describe prevention steps and simple measures you can take yourself. Do-it-yourself pest control carries real risks, including exposure to chemicals, falls from ladders and roofs, stings from disturbed nests, bites from wildlife, contact with animal waste and carcasses that may carry disease, fire hazards (for example, from improvised heat treatments or foggers), and damage to property. Improper treatment can also scatter pests, such as bed bugs or certain ants, and make the problem harder to solve. If you choose to undertake any pest control activity yourself, you do so at your own risk, and ETAAC Pest Control is not responsible for any injury, illness, loss or damage that results. When in doubt, contact a licensed professional.
5. Independent Contractors
ETAAC Pest Control operates a nationwide network and referral service that connects customers with independent local pest control contractors. Those contractors are independently owned and operated businesses. They are not employees or agents of ETAAC Pest Control, and they are responsible for their own licensing, insurance, products, methods and workmanship. ETAAC Pest Control helps coordinate bookings and customer service, but does not directly control how a contractor performs work on site. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ETAAC Pest Control is not liable for the acts or omissions of independent contractors. You may ask any contractor for proof of licensing and insurance before work begins.
6. Results Not Guaranteed
Pest control outcomes depend on many factors, including the species and size of the infestation, the construction and condition of the property, activity on neighboring properties, weather, and whether preparation and follow-up instructions are followed. Some pests require multiple visits or ongoing treatment. Accordingly, ETAAC Pest Control does not guarantee that any service will eliminate pests completely or prevent their return, except to the extent of any re-treatment terms expressly stated on your booking. Prices shown on the Site are “starting at” prices; the final price is set after inspection. Time frames, results or costs mentioned in articles or examples are illustrative only.
7. External Links
The Site may contain links to websites operated by other parties, such as government agencies, universities, product manufacturers and image libraries. These links are provided for convenience and reference. ETAAC Pest Control has not reviewed all linked sites, does not control them, and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. Use of linked sites is at your own risk.
8. Testimonials and No Endorsement
Any testimonials or reviews on the Site reflect the individual experiences and opinions of the customers who provided them. They are not necessarily representative of what every customer will experience, and individual results vary. References to any product, brand, organization or service do not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by ETAAC Pest Control, and the mention of a third party does not imply that it endorses ETAAC Pest Control.
9. Errors and Omissions
While we try to keep the information on the Site accurate and current, it may contain technical, typographical or photographic errors, may be incomplete, or may become outdated as products, regulations and best practices change. ETAAC Pest Control makes no representations or warranties about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability of the information on the Site and may change or remove content at any time without notice. 10. Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure
ETAAC Pest Control does not currently participate in any affiliate programs and does not currently display third-party advertising on the Site. We do not receive commissions for linking to products or websites. If that changes, we will update this Disclaimer, our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy, and we will clearly disclose any material connection with an advertiser or affiliate as required by the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements.
